Programs Available Through CrossFit Missoula
CrossFit is elite fitness for everyone. Our classes and private coaching are based on the CrossFit program originally developed by legendary coach Greg Glassman after his many years of watching, working with, and coaching all types of people – from those merely interested in general fitness to elite athletes.
CrossFit workouts are comprised of constantly varied functional movements (like pushing, pulling, squatting, lifting, running) executed at high intensity. The workouts themselves are completely scalable, which means that a new participant and a CrossFit veteran can complete the same workout with changes in load and intensity. CrossFit workouts will deliver phenomenal fitness in and of themselves or as a compliment to your sport-specific training regime.
Finally, CrossFit is FUN! Our coaches and participants are welcoming, supportive, and committed to creating an environment where everyone can succeed.
CrossFit Missoula Kids
CrossFit Missoula Kids is not simply a scaled down version of CrossFit, it is entirely and absolutely CrossFit geared and designed for a special population and the specific developmental needs of that population (neurological, cognitive, motor).
CrossFit Kids is the principal strength and conditioning program for many young athletes and the primary P.E. program for many home schools, and charter schools. It is used by athletic teams, martial arts schools and many parents that want their kids to grow up healthy, strong and have a life long love of working out thus avoiding the common problems associated with childhood inactivity and obesity.
Healthy living requires that our kids push, pull, run, throw, climb, lift, jump, effectively and safely regardless of whether or not they are involved in sports.
Personal Defense Readiness (PDR)
P.D.R.™ is based on the S.P.E.A.R. System™ pioneered and developed by Tony Blauer. The S.P.E.A.R. System is the first genetically & behaviorally inspired self-defense course of it’s kind. It is the only self-defense method that fully integrates the body’s reflexive responses and instinctive survival mechanisms, making the S.P.E.A.R. System the easiest, most natural way to protect yourself.
Students are exposed to aggressive, as well as defensive, role-playing to simulate encounters and to prepare them to react ethically and decisively to real-life aggression. Our curriculum covers verbal defusing tactics, choice speech principles, and a host of other behaviorally researched strategies.
The S.P.E.A.R. System fosters respect for yourself and others by developing virtues like self-discipline, humility, assertiveness and character. Since the program is so focused around the managing of one’s fears, it directly works the ‘esteem’ and ‘ego’ centers of anyone sincerely studying the system, ultimately leading to greater self-knowledge and personal evolution.
Committed training also provides an excellent method to acquire overall physical fitness, improved strength, cardiovascular conditioning, weight management and coordination.
